since 1956, as Beth Sholom Cemetery in Kilgore, before the
move to the new Longview Shul. Section # 10464, burials records since
1960, after the move to the Longview synagogue. The
Beth Sholom Cemetery, The Hebrew Section at the Memory Park Cemetery in
Longview and Marshall Hebrew Cemetery in Harrison County, Texas, are part of

Temple Emanu-El in Longview applied with the state to have
their Hebrew section inside Memory Park recognized as a separate
Harrison County cemetery. It was
recently granted by the Texas Historical Commission. They are working to get
their burials moved over to the newly designated area that is to be their
cemetery. There is no current plans to erect a fence, so it may be confusing
where Memory Park Cemetery stops and the new one starts". Source:

Temple Emanuel Cemetery, Jewish Section in Memory Park, Longview, TX
Temple Moses Montefiore of Marshall, Texas and Congregation Beth
Sholom of Kilgore, Texas, Both became an integral part of Temple Emanu-El

The Jewish Community of Kilgore / Longview, Gregg County, TX:
The Original Jewish Community in Kilgore started in 1936, and Temple Beth
Sholom was founded.
Temple Beth Sholom synagogue was built in 1937.
A cemetery was purchased with burial records since 1956. Most of the
community moved to Longview, Texas.
A new building was
dedicated in Longview, in 1957. The name of the synagogue changed to
Temple Emanu-El.
