closer of Temple Israel in 1975. Last updated: August 20, 2020
Please update us! In 1919 Temple Israel (Reform) was formally Charted. Synagogue was
formally dedicated in January 1922.
In 1975, the congregation sold the building to the City of Wichita Falls and
soon afterwards, disbanded and some of its members joined The House of
Jacob.
In 1920, The House of Jacob (Orthodox), was formally charted. Building
dedicated in 1924, on Lamar street. In 1957 the congregation moved to a new
location in Kemp Blvd. The Mikvah was not moved to the new location. After
1975, with the joining of members from the former Temple Israel, The House
of Jacob started to accommodate both Reform and Conservative Judaism.
