CROUSTADES - CRISP TOASTED BREAD CUPS
| INGREDIENTS: |
- Sliced fresh white bread (¼ inch thick)
- Margarine or butter, melted
|
| DIRECTIONS: |
|
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
Decrust the slices of white bread.
Brush or spread melted margarine or butter on each side. Press each
slice into a custard cup, muffin pan, or small pie pan so that the
bread forms a cup. Bake for 10-15 minutes until crisp and golden
brown.
Variation:
To make Sandwich Cones,
decrust sliced white bread. With a rolling pin, roll each slice
thin. Spread with soft margarine or butter. Roll each into a cone
and secure with a toothpick. Place on an ungreased baking sheet.
Bake for 10 to 15 minutes, until lightly browned. Remove the picks.
Carefully spoon the desired filling - egg, tuna, or salmon salad or perhaps
chopped liver - into the cones. To serve attractively, arrange on a
serving dish spoke-fashion, with the point of each cone toward the
center of the dish. Garnish and serve.
