HAMANTASCH FILLINGS

PRUNE FILLING:
|
Ingredients:
|
- 1 pound prunes, washed, pitted and ground fine
- ½ cup chopped nuts
- ¼ cup honey
- Grated rind of 1 orange
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
|
Directions:
|
Blend together all ingredients. The filling is now ready to use.
EASY PRUNE FILLING:
Purchase prune butter (lekvar), which is available in most
supermarkets. Add your own nuts, raisins, orange or lemon rind, etc.

POPPY SEED FILLING:

Ingredients:
|
- 1 cup poppy seeds
- ½ cup water
- ¼ cup honey
- ½ cup chopped almonds
- Grated rind of ½ lemon
- ¼ cup sugar
- 1 tart apple, peeled and grated
|
Directions:
|
In a small saucepan, combine all ingredients except the apple. Cook
over low heat until thick. Let cool. Add the grated apple. The filling
is now ready to use.
EASY POPPY SEED FILLING:
To a can of ready-made poppy seed filling add ¾ cup chopped nuts
and lemon juice to tasted. Blend well.

APRICOT FILLING:

Ingredients:
|
- ½ pound dried apricots
- 1½ cups water
- ¾ to 1 cup sugar
|
Directions:
|
In a small saucepan over medium-low heat, cook the apricots in the
water until the apricots are very soft. Mash or process in a blender
or food processor. Add sugar to taste and simmer over low heat until
thick, about 10 minutes. Cool before using.
