CHOCOLATE TORTE FOR PESACH (PARVE) |

INGREDIENTS: |
|
|
Cake: |
|
|
- 7 eggs, separated
- 7 tbsp sugar
- 6 ounces semisweet chocolate
- 4 tbsp water
- 4 tsp instant coffee, dissolved int 3 tsp water
- 2 cups ground walnuts
|
|
|
Frosting: |
|
|
- 1/2 cup oil
- scant cup powdered sugar, Kosher for Pesach
- 3 - 4 squares bittersweet chocolate
- 1 egg
|
|
|
DIRECTIONS: |
|
|
- Beat egg whites until stiff but not dry
- Mix yolks and sugar
- Melt chocolate and 4 tbsp water in a double boiler
and add coffee mixture.
- Cool slightly and add chocolate to yolks.
- Blend thoroughly.
- Add nuts to the chocolate mixture.
- Fold the stiffly beaten egg whites into the
chocolate and nuts.
- Divide batter into two nonstick 9-inch cake pans.
- Bake for 30 minutes in a preheated 350 degrees F.
oven.
- Frost when cool.

Frosting: |
|
|
- Beat oil and sugar until smooth. Add melted
chocolate and egg and beat again.
- Frost cake and garnish with chocolate shavings or
curls.
- Serves 8 - 10
