Description: According to the statutes of OJB Shalom, registered in 1990, it is the legal successor of the Cultural and Educational Organization of the Jews in Bulgaria. Its purpose is: struggle against all forms of fascism, totalitarism, antidemocracy, racialism, anti-Semitism and national chauvinism; defending the constitutional rights of its members and of the Jews in the country before the state, its bodies and the other public and political organizations in the country; preservation, strengthening and development of the Jewish ethnic and cultural values and traditions; mutual contacts with all communities and organizations in the country and abroad, struggle for the principles of democracy and worthy human existence. Its activities concern many aspects of social life, including education, media, and human rights. They are adressed to all age groups, and in particular to women, families, disabled people, immigrants, ethnic minorities, low income groups, and veterans. It has 14 employees and about 140 voluntary associates.
